Christopher J. Cox, Esq., FCIArb

Admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, Christopher J. Cox witnessed the explosion of the tech industry in Silicon Valley. Focusing on patent, trade secret, and commercial litigation, his experience spans a broad spectrum of technologies and forums which include complex litigation, jury trials and appeals in state and federal courts nationwide, as well as in various arbitral seats. Representing both domestic and international clients across diverse industries and regions, Chris has earned recognition from Legal 500 for his thought leadership on trade secret issues and has been commended for his subject matter expertise along with an understanding of technology, litigation strategy, crisis management, forensics, and success in handling large, multi-jurisdictional disputes.

Chris recognizes that some disputes present straightforward legal conflicts, while others are driven by complex business objectives. His approach, honed from his experience as an advocate in hundreds of mediations, is well-suited to both. In addition to assessing party submissions to understand the legal issues underlying a dispute, his use of pre-mediation conferences with each party (and counsel) provides a deeper understanding of the issues and dynamics underlying a conflict that may not be apparent from the pleadings. These pre-mediation conferences also allow all participants to step away from the legal conflict and consider business solutions or other creative paths to resolution before the initial mediation session. This approach promotes efficiency and creativity in the mediation sessions and helps participants focus on looking forward, which is the key to resolving even the most entrenched conflicts.
